sammyoggle I happened to see Kinsmit open for Het Volk, and immediately adored his wonderfully chill music and voice. Thank you for these wonderful songs which, whether joyful, sad, hopeful, or adventurous, all strike a chord within me. Favorite track: Thessaloniki.

about

During the second lockdown in early 2021 I surrounded myself with the poetry and songs of heroes and heroines of mine inside my wharf cellar, taking in their work and using them as touchstones. Through this process and the reality of the pandemic I drew inspiration for this collection of songs. Three songs need special mention: Turn the World is based on the poem Kind Sir: These Words by Anne Sexton and its epigraph from Thoreau’s Walden. The Road to Larissa, is a poem by Leonard Cohen that I altered to create this song. The same I did to the poem Refugee Blues by W.H. Auden.
